3-Hit Style Combo: Buiti-Sarah-Missy May!

     Buiti                      Sarah                   Missy May

Hey!

Howzit going? So I have decided to start a new series on Fola's Oasis called 3-Hit Style Combo, where I will feature 3 different fashionistas and they would (through their pictures), show us how to style several looks from different perspectives. Lately, I have started creating my own personal style look-book, made up of pics I find from websites, blogs, e-zines etc. This way I can get ideas for styling my clothes. As you know, it's one thing to be able to afford lovely clothes, and it's another thing entirely to be able to style those clothes in a unique way and even wear trends so that they work for you. In fact, every diva knows that you don't have to spend so much on your wardrobe to still look stylish.

Ok so today I am featuring: BUITI, SARAH and MISSY MAY!

I want you to know a lil bit about these lovely ladies who agreed to be featured here (thank you so much guys! mwuah!) so please don't be in a hurry, go through their short bio below before going through the style pics I have compiled for you!

BUITI

I am Nwaoba Beauty but I love to spell it as Buiti. I am a fashion blogger, wardrobe stylist and I do make up for fun. I run the blog www.fashionitazbybuiti.blogspot.com. I am a shoe freak! I get shoe-gasm when I see one lololol
Please tell us a bit about your blog
My blog is a fashion and lifestyle blog and I talk about just anything. I think the craziest post I did was on "How to have a clean vagina". You would also see stuff like fashion tips, "Fashion Face", "Trend Alert", my personal styles etc...

What are 5 fashion items that describe your style?
The first has got to be shoes.I love skirts in any shape or style, I love wrist watches, colored blazers and a good statement bag

Please share 2 or 3 style tips that can help people improve their style
Own a pair of nude pumps, as it never goes out of style and it goes with almost everything. Always play with colors and take risks with them, like try red and pink; they work well together. Invest in good bras- trust me they either make an outfit look drab or cute.

Where can one find you on the web?
Follow me on Twitter as @buiti, Instragram as @buitii, add me on Google+ as buiti and visit my blog on http://www.fashionitazbybuiti.blogspot.com

SARAH

My name is Sarah, I am a 19 year old Nigerian currently studying Communication Arts in Bangkok, Thailand.

Please tell us a bit about your blog
I honestly can’t pinpoint how I came to the blog world but one day I was reading a fashion blog and thought to myself- "I can do this". Plus I love posing for pictures and always dressing up. I guess you can say I am a bit of a shopaholic and picturaholic lol. On my blog I try to show different ways of styling different items in your wardrobe. I do this by creating look books and re-wearing clothes differently.

What are 5 fashion items that describe your style?
At the moment, I am still trying to discover my style. So far though, I love leopard print, pops of color especially in shoes, stripes, a red lip and statement necklaces.

Please share 2 or 3 style tips that can help people improve their style
I believe you should always think outside the box. Always try to style your clothing items differently. Try wearing clothes in different ways, for example, a shirt backwards or a dress as a skirt. Make sure you are communicating the right image of your personality based on your dressing style. Finally, don’t be scared to try new things!

Please share 2 or 3 style tips that can help people improve their style
You can find me on my blog Princessaudu.blogspot.com or Facebook page Princess Audu.

MISSY MAY

My name is Mavis, but my friends call me Missy May which is my alter-ego. I was born in Lagos, raised in Ghana, but Austrian by nationality. I’m a single mother of a 4-yr lil boy who does me head in (lol!), but I love him to bits. To enable me pay the bills, I work as a customer service consultant and a freelance videographer.

Tell us a bit about your blog.
I blog at Missy May's World where I share things that motivate and entertain people (fashion, motivational posts, music, etc.)

What are 5 fashion items (clothes, shoes, accessories, etc.) that describe your personal style?
My personal style is Simple Chic, as I believe in the phrase “Less is more.” I don’t have five things that describe my style – I love everything, so far as it’s comfortable and tasteful.

Please share 2 or 3 style tips that you think would help people improve their style.
I’m no expert. All I can say is; dress for yourself and don’t follow trends too much, because you’ll end up broke. Everything on trend now was on trend in the 40s, 50s, 60s, etc. Shop your closet first, always find new ways to style your clothes, invest in alterations and last but not the least, follow fashion bloggers for some sort of inspirations.

Where can one find or follow you on the web?
You can find me in my house (lol!), Instagram/missymayification, Facebook/missymayification, Google+, Bloglovin and Twitter/Donmissy2002. I always follow back, so feel free to follow.

BUITI'S, SARAH'S & MISSY MAY'S STYLE

Denim:
Buiti and Sarah wear denim shirts (don't you just love denim shirts?) with skirts while Missy May wears a denim skirt with a layered look on top. Sarah adds a pop of colour with her courts and purse.

Mixed Prints:
Mixed prints have been in vogue for a while now and I think it has come to stay. It's such a bold statement and you have to be confident to carry it off. Buiti's look is a bit safe because the prints are very small. Sarah gives us a bold stripes-on-polka dots look and Missy May dons a leopard print jacket on her stripes. I think it's always best to have one or two neutral colours when you want to try mixing bold prints.

All-Black:
I really like how Missy May makes her all-black look work with texture- I mean the leather pants. Then Sarah works with colour by throwing on a lovely kimono over her all-black outfit. Buiti goes metallic with her metallic belt and shoes.

Stripes:
Some peeps don't like stripes at all, but I think it's probably because they don't know how to style it. Here are 3 ways you can make it work: you could get a striped blazer like Buiti did, a striped top like Sarah, or a striped dress like Missy May. All 3 fashionistas did not do it the boring way by pairing black-and-white stripes with black clothing or accessories. They all went for flashes of colour!

Colour-block:
Now this is one trend that I know the men couldn't stand simply because when it came on the scene, so many ladies went crazy with it and some just looked ridiculous! I think the men were like "What's going on? All this colour is blinding my eyes!" Well it's not an everywhere trend anymore but it def is a cool fashion statement. My fave look from the three stylers is Buiti's- She limited the colour-blocking to the upper body, and wore a neutral-colours print skirt below to tone it down. Sarah's look is a bit safer but works really well too.

Ankara:
Can you tell that Missy May likes mixed prints and stripes? :) Her combo here is really nice. I think ankara fabrics should be flaunted more often, particularly outside of Africa.I don't think we should limit ankara fabrics to only church and weddings! You can't go wrong with an ankara skirt under a plain top like Sarah; I have seen ankara rompers, shorts, blazers and jump suits and they look really good for any occasion.

Corporate:
When I see looks like this I think work, church or weddings. Well my fave look here is Sarah's- A flared midi skirt paired with a sleeveless shirt is a good corporate look that's not too severe-looking and isn't too cliche either. I also like the pop of colour (Sarah's signature!) of yellow and blue. Buiti's skirt and matching brooch with that peplum top and skinny belt is so fab! And Missy May looks smashing in a purple dress, paired with a jacket that could be taken off for a more casual look.

So that's how these 3 ladies have shown us 3 different, unique and individual ways to style 7 different looks! I hope you enjoyed this post!

Which looks are your fave?
