Hair Crush Feature: Yvette Ndumanya

Hi guys!
Let me get right to it. I have a hair crush feature. And she is also my personal hair crush. And she is so damn pretty too! Lately my hair has been thugging like cray. I realize that I have not been taking good care of it as much as I should, particularly as I coloured it about 6 months ago- the dye seems to have compromised the moisture levels of my hair. So I have been looking for a revamp strategy for my now dry hair and I think I will adopt Yvette's routine and see how it goes. But enough talk, check out this feature and let me know what you think!

Please introduce yourself! What do you do?
Hi. My name Yvette Ndumanya and I work with Diamond Bank.

Why did u decide to go or stay natural, and how long have you been natural for?
I decided to go natural for lots of reasons and I will state a few; I got tired of relaxing my hair, moving from one relaxer to another and also suffering from burns most times I relaxed my hair. I'm proud to be an African lady and I also love the texture of an African hair which is unique in its own way. I have been natural for a year and six months now and I'm amazed at my hair growth.

What’s your hair type, your regimen and staple hair products?

My hair type is 4C. Well I use Shea Moisture and Tresemme products for now (shampoo and conditioner). I deep condition once every 4 weeks. Please find below some recipes for my deep conditioning:
Here are the two methods I use: avocado pear, honey and olive oil OR mayonnaise(Bama), egg, honey and olive oil. I mash my avocado then add honey and olive oil mix them together OR i mix my mayonnaise with egg, olive oil and honey. Rub on my hair then wear my  plastic cap for about four hours then I rinse with a little shampoo and then do my LOC method. LOC method (L= liquid (water or liquid leave-in conditioner) O= oil (coconut oil or castor oil or emu oil or grape seed oil) C= cream ( Shea butter) then I either twist my hair or I do a corn row then I wear my hair bonnet or a satin scarf to sleep. The LOC method helps to retain moisture to the hair.

Please share a few tips and tricks for retaining length?
* I wear my hair bonnet or a satin scarf it helps prevent your hair moisture from being robbed.
*After washing my hair I don't use a towel to dry my hair. Towel drying frizzes the hair either I air dry or I use a T-shirt
* If my hair feels dry I wet it rub some oil before I comb so it doesn't break.
* Protective styling helps retain length (twists, weaving etc)

What reactions did u get when u first went natural and what reactions do u get now?
Omg! When I cut my hair hmmm! My friends where like I'm crazy and why would I do that just to go natural. Some said I was gonna get tired and relax my hair. But now that it's all grown they are like "Awww!" They are jealous (in a good way), some decided to go natural too and they came to me for products and methods on how to take care of their hair.

How do you wear your hair to work or formal occasions?
I go on Afro sometimes, I also do twist outs, I style my hair the way I feel more comfortable in and in a way that suits any occasion.

What’s the best thing about going natural and what advice do you have for other wanna-be naturals out there?
If you are fearful of going natural because you think you will be stuck with one hair style, forget that. I actually came to embrace my natural hair because it gives me some nice and gorgeous looks. I can go from a Mohawk to an Afro to twist outs. Please note that your natural hair doesn't stop you from fixing your Brazilian hair and co lol. I have some pics of my looks both on natural hair and on weaves.

I love being natural and I get a lot of compliments each time I go on my natural hair- from church, to my work place, to hangouts etc. Also, I have also motivated some others ladies who were scared of going natural.  I'm African, I embrace my African nature and I'm proud of my African natural hair. Are you proud yours?
Where can one find and follow u on the web?

If Yvette's hair isn't pure gorgeousness I don't know what is! I need to lay my paws on some Shea Moisture products, restock on my original shea butter and possibly get Cantu shea butter leave-in as well.

Review: Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Va Va Violet

Hello!
And how is the week going for you? Have you missed me? :) It's been a very busy and "interesting" time for me these past few weeks and I just could not get round to blogging. However I am gradually getting back on track so stay tuned for more posts- I have not quit the blogging world yet!

Anywayz, here is a review of a very lovely lippie I got months ago. It's a plum one, very bold and definitely one of my current favourites.

In summary, the colour pay off is fantastic- now for a Revlon lipstick, I am impressed, and to be honest I wouldn't try any other plum lipstick that's more expensive than this Revlon one, called Va Va Violet.

It lasts really long, and is easy to apply. It has a very faint hint of a shine to it so it isn't a matte lipstick. I never have to line my lips before applying it.

I can't remember how much I got it but I know it was very affordable, and if you need a plum lipstick to purchase I would highly recommend this one!

Do you like plum lipsticks?
